JUNKLAB ENGINE | JUNKLAB Feature inventory reviewed 16 October 2026 against version 0.72.3 DESCRIPTION Junklab Engine is a modular WebGPU engine with visual world-building tools, procedural terrain and rich environmental rendering. Developed by independent Australian studio Junklab, it is built alongside Red Skies at Dawn, its first production project. CURRENT CAPABILITIES Direct WebGPU rendering with physically based materials, instancing, lighting, shadows, reflections and tone mapping. Visual world editing with transform tools, hierarchies, reusable prefabs, labelled inspectors, undo and redo, portable save and open, and play preview. Terrain sculpting and painting, seeded islands and archipelagos, editable coastlines and rule-based vegetation scatter. Visual material graphs with live previews, reusable parameters and layered terrain surfaces. Atmosphere, clouds, rain, ocean surfaces, shoreline wash and underwater rendering connected to project-supplied simulation and assets. Camera paths and cinematic flights with editable waypoints and playback controls. glTF and GLB model loading, compressed textures, animation-clip playback, skeletal skinning and morph targets. Static triangle collision, ray and capsule queries, terrain sampling and spatial influence volumes. Culling, preparation caches, performance diagnostics and extensible TypeScript interfaces. STATUS AND REQUIREMENTS In active development. Requires WebGPU-capable hardware and a compatible browser. The engine supplies reusable rendering, runtime and authoring capabilities. Each project supplies its game content and simulation. The complete current feature list is available at https://junklab.au/engine.
